Thank you for signing up to join ‘Your Honour’ Macquarie University's Law Revue.
We're genuinely excited that you're here and ready for the upcoming production year. We've got some fantastic ideas brewing, and we can't wait to share them with you. To stay in the loop, be sure to keep an eye on our socials!
The Macquarie University Law Revue is a sketch comedy show written, produced and performed by MQU Law students (sometimes just other people too)! Brace yourself for good times, funny laughs, new friends and a unique theatre experience. The MQ Law Revue is a sensation that sells out multiple shows and leaves the audience clamouring for more!
We welcome you to come audition to be apart of this show. No experience required! All are invited to audition and become part of this legacy that even the biggest partners in the biggest law firms know about. If you are a singer, actor, dancer, law student, writer, audition! If you are none of them, audition too!
Law Revue is a big show and is performed to hundreds of people each year. It is important to be aware of the commitments before getting involved. At the start we begin with two night rehearsals and then increase to three closer to the show. The show crescendos with our two week show run during August. Whilst this may seem daunting, it is one of the most rewarding experiences you could take away from uni with many cast members returning to the show even after they graduate.
So what are you waiting for? Use the link below to register your interest for the upcoming auditions. Just select a window of time that you think you will turn up in and then just rock up. It should only take about 10 min to audition so come whenever! If you write down a time and can no longer do it, thats okay, come at another time! If you can’t make any of the dates, contact us! Acting/Improv
Acting is a fundamental part of our show. We generally have around 54 scenes in the show with the majority of them being sketches. At the audition we will provide you with a few different sketches for you to choose from. This means if you decide to come audition with friends, you will be able to do a scene together. When performing, we understand that you only just received the sketches so you are free to read from the script (we don’t expect you to be a master memoriser). Improvisation is a great skills for actors to have especially in a comedy show. The show can be unpredictable with audience members reacting or even things going slightly wrong (like someone forgetting their lines). As such, part of the audition will be a short improv scene where you will either be given a prompt or have to react to one of the director's actions. We understand this can be intimidating but we are here to help and want it to be a fun experience!

Dancing (Self Rated)
You must learn the swan lake ballet and perform at least two of the dances for the directors. Joking! Joking! You also need to learn to do a round off back handspring back tuck. Again kidding! We will ask you to rate your dance ability from 1 (a failed Just Dance Pro) to 5 (God-tier level dancer signed with the Russian ballet). Dance is not a significant part of the show but we would appreciate it if you could keep a beat and learn basic moves. But we can teach you to do that if you really struggle.

Singing (Optional)
Singing. Oh so how scary it can be. Take it from me (Connor), I can’t sing at ALL and I’m still the co-director. So if you can’t sing, that’s okay! Join the club! But if you can, the following is for you :) Those who choose to sing will be asked to sing part of a song that you believe suits your range and best shows off your talent. Don’t stress if it’s not an “On my Own” type song, even “Happy Birthday” is an acceptable song choice) We would like for you to give it a go as the show does feature some full cast numbers that will require everyone to sing (again no stress if you are not a brilliant singer). ALSO we have no expectation for you to sing a Beetlejuice number! If you have seen the show previously you will notice that we will have a variety of different numbers and of different genres, including a girls number, boys number and other random numbers.
